KATHMANDU: The election results have reinforced the rising popularity of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), with 10 of its candidates crossing the significant 50,000-vote mark and setting a new electoral milestone.
According to the vote count, RSP candidates secured strong mandates across several constituencies in Koshi Province, Bagmati Province, and Lumbini Province, highlighting the party’s growing influence in national politics.
Strong showing in Koshi Province
In Koshi Province, four RSP candidates surpassed 50,000 votes.
From Jhapa Constituency-5, 36-year-old Balendra Shah secured the highest vote count among them with 68,348 votes.
Similarly, Indira Rana Magar won 60,110 votes from Jhapa Constituency-2.
In Sunsari Constituency-2, Lal Bikram Thapa received 57,348 votes, while Rubina Acharya obtained 55,051 votes from Morang Constituency-6.
The strong performance of young and female candidates in the province is widely seen as a challenge to traditional political forces.
Major support in Bagmati Province
RSP also secured notable victories in Chitwan district of Bagmati Province.
Thirty-year-old Sobita Gautam garnered 59,277 votes from Chitwan Constituency-3, making her one of the youngest women on the list.
Meanwhile, Hari Dhakal won 58,208 votes from Chitwan Constituency-1, and party chairman Rabi Lamichhane secured 54,402 votes from Chitwan Constituency-2.
Momentum in Lumbini Province
RSP also demonstrated strong support in Rupandehi district of Lumbini Province.
From Rupandehi Constituency-3, Lekhjung Thapa received 58,814 votes.
Similarly, Sulav Kharel secured 56,550 votes from Rupandehi Constituency-2, while Sunil Lamsal obtained 54,845 votes from Rupandehi Constituency-1.
