KATHMANDU — Sudhan Gurung is set to be reappointed as Home Minister in the government led by Balendra Shah, with his oath-taking ceremony scheduled for 3 PM today, according to official sources.
Gurung had previously resigned from the post after allegations surfaced regarding discrepancies in his property details and other related controversies. Following his resignation, the Government of Nepal formed an investigation committee to review the accusations.
Officials now say the committee has cleared Gurung of all allegations, issuing him a clean chit. Based on the findings, the government has decided to reinstate him as Home Minister.
Sources at the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that formal correspondence for the swearing-in has already been sent to the Office of the President of Nepal. After taking the oath, Gurung is expected to immediately assume responsibilities at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nepal.
